CURRENT_DATE() FUNCTION in MySQL

CURRENT_DATE() FUNCTION
The MySQL CURRENT_DATE function is used to get the current date. The various versions of MySQL support the CURRENT_DATE function, namely, MySQL 5.7, MySQL 5.6, MySQL 5.5, MySQL 5.1, MySQL 5.0, MySQL 4.1, MySQL 4.0 and MySQL 3.23.

Syntax:

CURRENT_DATE( )

Example 1:

mysql> SELECT CURRENT_DATE();

Output:

'2019-07-05'

Explanation:

The current date has been returned as the result.

Example 2:

mysql> SELECT CURRENT_DATE() + 2;

Output:

20190707

Explanation:

Two days after the current date has been returned as the result.
